Experience online in terms of “space”

   Rob Shields describe Cybercpace as “(is) socially created sense of space… a social construction”. Yes, last few decades new technologies become part of our life. Live communication transfered to experience online through emails, sms,msn,mobile calls etc. Hence, socially created sense of space appeared in our life. This virtual “space” is different from reallity. I think, my experience online as communicating with others through “msn” or “skype” programms is in terms of “cyberspace”. Even if I can see or hear another person with whom I communicate online, it is “cyberspace”. Hence, I think, today our real life becoming more and more influenced by virtual space. Thats why people shouldn’t confuse in “spaces” and have to differentiate “cyberspace” from real “space”!

Working With Wiki

   From my experiences with collobarative project I chose wiki. It is really exciting community where everyone can be part of wiki. Each of them can edit the posts of others, freely create or contribute to content of web page. www.wiki.org

     When I first used the wiki I thought it is unreal,unhelpful or even unnecessary for us. I supposed that some people edit right things and write something irrelavant to content just for fun. Thats why we don’t need this kind of software. But now I have changed my opinion about wiki. Today I think, wiki is simple in use, promotes freedom and democracy, because everyone not only journalists can write their opinions and edit something what they think incorrect. Moreover, wiki helps to public feel themselves as real journalists or editors.Working with wiki is one of the most exciting, funniest and useful experiences.

Is Wikipedia a reliable resource?

           Wikipedia is online encyclopedia where the entries can modified, edited by anyone who have access to internet.  http://www.progressiveu.org/000633-wikipedia-is-it-really-reliable.  Thats why It is diffucult to say “wikipedia reliable resource”. Yes, it can be helpful to know some statements, terms in general. But, in wikipedia we can’t find the exact definition what was written by scientists and professionals. Because, even the terms written by professionals, In some period of time it can be edited by any user of Internet. For example, the definition what I used today on project, it can be changed tomorrow. For that reason many professors don’t accept the wikipedia as reliable resourse on project works.

     The main characteristic of Journalism, mass communication or any information is its credibility. Without it everything will be inaccurate information or vandalism. So, I think, wikipedia is not reliable resource. if we need information, we should have reliable , accurate information what are written by licensed scientists or professionals.

Adoption in Kazakhstan…

          After reading Akina’s entry on http://teamoffour.wordpress.com/ about adoption of Kazakhstani children I was interested in this issue. After collapse of USSR Kazakhstan as other postsoviet countries was in trouble and in difficult economic situation. As a result, The amount of children in orphanages have extremely increased. And to solve this problem Government of Kazakhstan allowed to adoption of our children to foreigners. Hence, acoording to site http://www.theadoptionguide.com/options/adoption-from-kazakhstan over 4000 of Kazakhstani children were adopted only by US citizens since 1997. There are so many our children who living in other countries with other parents.

  Today, when the economy of Kazakhstan has improved and citizens are living in good conditions , I think our own citizens can adopt these children. The main goal in strategic program “Kazakhstan- 2030″ of our President is to increase the population of Kazakhstan. http://www.kazakhstan.at/english/piclinks/strategy-kazakhstan-2030.html.We can achieve this goal through prohibition to adoption for foreign countries. Recently, I heard that deputies of Kazakhstani Parlament have discussed about prohibition to adoption of our children. I completely agree with this and I hope in the future our own children will be under care of own citizens. So, All of us together will build future of Kazakhstan!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Guardian unlimited”

            The Guardian is the famous newspaper in UK and big online site as guardian unlimited in the world. When we say about participation, the target audience of the site are common people of diiferent interests, ages and beliefs. Guardian is in the list of the most usable and interesitng sites of the world. Because all conditions are made for users. They can easily register and write posts or comments on news which updated every minute in Guardian site. The main rule for users is to have access to internet and to register to Guardian which is really easy.

      It has links for users participation such as “comment is free”, “Talk”.   Talk is the place in the site, where users can find interesting and intelligence discussions. Participants can easily join to talk and write their opinions or they can put questions to people who make decisions in Government. It is easy to find talk of interest of each participant. there are divisions within Talk as politics, bussiness, sport, music, travel etc.  On the link “comment is free” there is special blog for participants. They can comment on news, post their entries. So,this is freedom of speech, freedom of participants. there is no hierarchy or subordination between Guardian and its users, they just interconnected. The site try equally both deliver information to an audience and provide conversation. it means, The Guardian is tradional oriented because it is commercial, broadcast, advertising focused and journalists of Guardian filter the news then publish. But also, It is Participatory journalism because the site is networked, conversational, egalitarian and users are not professional journalists who first publish then filter the posts.

Importance of community

After reading Maxim’s post on http://maksim88.wordpress.com/2007/06/12/community/ I am interested in communities such as “subaru club” which transfer from online to offline communities. It means, first these communities are created online, members communicate through chat, network. All of them have one similarity, they related to Subaru who own this type of car or people just who like model of Subaru. Members have one theme as “subaru” and they discuss, solve problems, help to each other. In this community members became proud of their “subaru” car,  they believe that its better and faster than other cars. Moreover, through communicating online they make new friends. And more  qualified , proffessional drivers help to new drivers and gave advices. After networking they communicate in reallity, meet face to face in informal an friendly atmosphere. It is become online community. They show own cars to each other, talk about “subaru”, about its good sides. Participants hear the opinions, points of view of each other. This kind of community as “subaru club”, satisfy needs of clients and automakers. 

Community membership

            All of us belong to different communities. For example, now in online community I am engaged in “wordpress”, “facebook” communities. And in offline community I am member of music ensemble. Despite each of us have different skills, views, also play in different instruments, all of us have equal responsibility and we try to peform in one breath. In individual peformance we usually focus on personal agendas. But In ensamle we together share mission and responsibility for working to achieve our goals. Each member knows own positions,  we trust each other, work together to make ensamle better and each of us bring valuable knowledge and skills to our small community.

Online beat

       Last week we registered to bloglines as tool for creating our online beat. I just understand that with bloglines it is easy to find and select information of my interest.  I choose some topics about policy of our Government, image of our country in the world, the future of traditional music and about art festivals. I choose these topics because with blogline and wordpress which are universal in the world I can see opinions of different people. So, for me it is reliable, credible source.  Moreover, with bloglines I can see what is going on, what is new on links of interest.I selected these information sources through searching of feeds, posts and URL of interest in Bloglines.
